Jo Ann was born in Wellington, TX on June 10, 1939 to Ada and Isaac (Shorty) Sears. They moved to Amarillo, when she was six, and attended Amarillo High School. She worked as a teacher's aide for AISD while raising her two children, Rickey and Debbie, before marrying her husband of 47 years, Robert Baker, on November 26, 1972. She worked at Cloth World's general office for many years before becoming a full-time wife, mother, and grandmother. Jo Ann was active in her church community and was a member of Bushland Baptist Church, where she played the organ, the piano, and taught Vacation Bible School. Later they changed to Bykota Baptist, where they have been members for the past 15 years.
Jo Ann had a passion for singing and loved to travel with Bobby to different gospel concerts. Among her favorites were The Gaither's and The Cathedral's. She loved attending all of her grand kids and great-grand kids sporting and clogging events, but always preferred when they played indoors. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and we will all miss her terribly.
