David Macon

David Wayne Macon, 63, of Amarillo died December 16, 2019.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2019 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

David was born December 10, 1956 in Amarillo to John and Bonnie Macon. He attended Palo Duro High School until his junior year and graduated from Broken Arrow, OK High School in 1975. David married his sweetheart since the age of 12, Janet Dianne Reynolds on October 4, 1975. He completed Technical Trade School for Electronics in Broken Arrow then moved back to Amarillo and worked at Owens Corning from 1979-1993. He then went on to work as a truck driver transporting agricultural products and fuel for Petro and Frontier Tank lines before   retiring in 2014.

David was a loving son, husband, father and papaw. He was a pillar of strength and a man of few words. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s activities. David was extremely proud of his Indian Heritage. He excelled at basketball, football and baseball, loved music and was passionate about games and things he liked doing. David was always a dedicated hard worker to his responsibilities, and in turn always respected. David was a man of many names: Teddy Bear, Haus, Pops, Big Chief, Skinny, Davis and Animal amongst others. He had a great sense of humor and always thought he was the funniest person there was. He had a way of drawing people to him.

Dad possessed many traits of our “Father”; truth, strength, honor and security.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Bonnie Macon; brother, Jack Macon; brother-in-law, Lynn Reynolds; and father-in-law, Edgar Lee Reynolds.

David is survived by his wife, Janet Macon of Amarillo; son, Joshua Macon of Amarillo; daughter, Wendy Vaughn and husband, Tim of Bushland; grandchildren, Tripp and Jaxon Macon, Victoria Vaughn, Aden Hall and Cohen Vaughn; mother-in-law, Charlene Reynolds; brother, John William Macon Jr. and wife, Judy of Amarillo; Barry Reynolds, Keith Reynolds and wife Debra, Danny Reynolds and wife Anne; aunts, Shirley Wooten of Webbers Falls, OK and Betty McCutcheon of Haysville, KS; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and lifelong friends.
