Edward was born on January 17, 1931 in Amarillo to Hubert and Ila Morbitzer. He was raised in Amarillo, graduating from Amarillo High School in 1949. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951, serving as a radio technician until his honorable discharge in 1954. Edward married Shirley Holman on June 24, 1956 in Amarillo. He worked at Texaco Refinery for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. Edward had a great passion for fishing and flying model airplanes and gliders. He enjoyed camping and fishing trips with his family and friends to New Mexico and area lakes on many occasions and had an extensive collection of fishing equipment and lures. He was a member of Texaco Retirees Club.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Morbitzer; son, Bert Morbitzer; daughter, Michelle Wells and husband Terry and granddaughter, McKenna Wells, all of Amarillo.
He was preceded in death by his parents
The family suggests memorials be made to the National Alzheimer’s Association.
The Family would like to thank the following health professionals for their excellent care of Edward over the last several years of his life: Dr. Lane Cox, Dr. Timothy Mooring, Dr. Ako Bradford, BSA Hospital, Vibra Hospital, The Arbors, Amarillo Center of Skilled Nursing, the Ussery-Roan Veteran’s Home and especially Practitioner Craig Perrien at Vibra Hospital.
