Jan Cox

Jan Cox, 65, of Amarillo, passed away Sunday February 23, 2020 surrounded by her family. Burial will take place 11:00 am Saturday at Memory Gardens Cemetery. A memorial service will be 12:30 pm at Washington Avenue Christian Church with Pastor Bob Mink officiating.

Jan was born July 4, 1954 in Amarillo to Berry and Glenna Jacobsen. She graduated from Tascosa High School in 1972 and would marry her sweetheart, Larry Cox, on December 17, 1982. They enjoyed 32 years of marriage together. Jan was a devoted member of Washington Avenue Christian Church for many years. She was the piano player and served as the children’s choir director. For many years, Jan ran an in home childcare service; she loved children. Jan enjoyed baseball and was an avid Rangers fan. She never missed a game. She loved music and dancing. Jan loved the mountains and seeing raccoons. She loved and cared for her family. They remember what a wonderful cook she was.

Jan was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one sister, Jorene Meador.

Survivors include her daughter Angela Archer and husband Casey; her son, Kevin Cox; one brother, Lee Jacobsen and wife Maria; her granddaughter, Shelby Archer and grandson, Shawn Archer. Survivors also include a host of extended family and friends.
