Jessie J. Barker 89, formerly of Will Point died Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in Amarillo.
Services will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Bolton Street Baptist Church with Winston Curtis, pastor officiating. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery, with military honors rendered by Volleys for Veterans. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St.
Jessie was born on December 8, 1927 in Shamrock. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Jessie was a very talented man. He had worked as a ranch hand, vet tech and a handy man. He retired from IBP as a supervisor. He also owned a lawn care business. Jessie enjoyed traveling the world, camping, fishing and most of all, he loved his family. He was a member of Bolton Street Baptist Church.
Jessie married the mother of his eight wonderful children, Margarette Elizabeth Surginer in 1948. He married his second wife, Patricia Ann Hilton in 1978. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia in 2005. He was also preceded by his parents, a grandson Jessie Larue Barker and a son in law Thomas Fernandez Guerra.
He is survived by six sons, Leroy Barker, Clifton Doyal Barker and his wife Chaztel, Van Larue, Barker, William James Barker and wife Lawanda, Edwin Glenn Ferguson and his wife Jonette and Arthur Joyal Barker; two daughters Barbara Ann Hughes and Hattie Marie Guerra; on brother, Weldon Barker and more than 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial donations be to Bolton Street Baptist Church, 2555 S. Bolton St. Amarillo, TX 79103
