Kaye McCrary, 74, of Amarillo died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Second Baptist Church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Kaye was born Sept. 21, 1942, in Hobbs, N.M., to James and Margie Shaffer. She moved to Amarillo as a child.
She married Donnie McCrary on Oct. 3, 1958. Together, they moved to California during his military enlistment. There, Kaye ran 12th Street Hotel before returning to Amarillo, where she worked for Kenneth Lard Insurance Agency before devoting her life to caring for her family. She loved nothing more than being a wife and mother to her family and a loving and caring neighbor.
Her children remember her always being home when they returned from school and her sweet cards that she always sent to let others know how much she loved them. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing many Scrabble and Wahoo games and cherished being Gammy to her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Carolyn Shaffer.
Survivors include her husband, Donnie McCrary of Amarillo; a son, Robby McCrary and wife Glenda of Amarillo; a daughter, Kristi Dawn Harrison and husband Melvin of Fort Worth; two grandchildren, Nathan McCrary and wife Jessica of Heartland and Libby McCrary Cummings; a great-granddaughter, Ellie Claire Cummings; and her brother, Dwight Shaffer and wife Doris of Amarillo.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
