Mildred Womack

Mildred Womack, 96, of Amarillo, TX died Thursday, January 9, 2020.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel.  Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mildred was born July 7, 1923, in Webster Groves, MO to Rev. Dr. Paul and Mary Daugherty.  Her father was the first minister to serve the Church at Tuxedo in Webster Groves, MO.  The church later changed its name to Webster Groves Christian Church.  She was a member of Covenant Fellowship.

Mildred married Rev. Royce Womack on August 14, 1945.  She had been a preacher’s wife for 63 years.  Together they were dedicated to visiting church members in local nursing homes and hospitals.

She had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and had been Worthy Matron twice and once with her husband as Worthy Patron.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Royce Womack; and a sister, Sylvia Threlkeld.

Mildred earned a bachelor’s degree in music which translated into her lifelong love of music.  She also loved traveling, singing, teaching and playing piano, dancing, all animals, and life!

Survivors include three daughters, Eileen Womack, Pauline Bavousett and husband Terry, and Roycille Yarbrough, all of Amarillo, TX; six grandchildren, Ray Lynn Porter, Chris Slaughter and wife Monica, Amber Yarbrough, Keri Eldridge and husband Tate, Misty Clemmer and husband Chris, and Crystal Bouldin and husband Marcus; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, McKinnzey, Brandon, Drake, Dawson, Madison,  Kylie, Tristan and Elise; and three great-great-grandchildren, Rennick, Remington, and Karter.

The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m., Monday, January 13, 2020, at the funeral home.
