Wade Black, 49, of Amarillo, died Thursday, May 3, 2018. Funeral services will be 9:00 am Monday at Hillside Christian Church- West Campus Auditorium, 6100 S. Soncy Rd. with Pastor Tommy Politz officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Sunday at Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Dr. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Wade was born June 23, 1968 in Dumas to Bobby and Barbara Black. He graduated from Dumas High School. He earned his bachelor degree in finance from West Texas State University. He worked for Premier Truck Group of Amarillo for over 20 years. Wade was an avid outdoorsman. In his spare time, he enjoyed jeeping, especially in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. He loved spending time in Lindrith, New Mexico and Ouray, Colorado. He was a runner, and always tried to stay physically fit. Wade was a strong Christian man. He loved people. Many friends said he increased the faith of others. Wade served as president of the Texas Transportation Association, and was involved with the Texas Trucking Association. He was vice-president and a founding member of Texas Panhandle Charities. He also served on the Advisory Board of Amarillo College. Wade was a member of Hillside Christian Church. Wade was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Black in 2014; and a brother, Brian Black in 1997. Survivors include his mother, Barbara Black of Amarillo; his brother, Kevin J Black and wife Jessica of St. George, Utah; his step-mother, Anita Black of Muleshoe; his best friend, Shelly Black of Amarillo; his step-daughter, Kourtney Claunch and her daughter, Ryleigh of Amarillo; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
